Zune Software Customizer 3.1.0
Sorry for the huge delay. As some of you know I went on a long trip to Italy and have been MIA since. Well I got engaged on my trip and have been pretty busy with all the stuff that comes along with that since. Not to mention the fact that my Zune is currently out of commission, I am receiving USB Device Not Recognized errors. This led to me having less interest in putting out an update. Anyways on to the stuff you care about, a version of the Customizer that works with the new Zune Software:
Just a note before I start, because of the way I handled the custom colors last release, it will have remembered all your settings, so if you left it off on the Dark Zune Theme it will go back to that or if you left it off with DarkGray being red it'll go back to that, etc.
Changes: - Added an option to set the Pink Color value and made the defaults for the two Dark Themes.
- Created some images to better suit the Dark Themes
- Brand Tag (the stupid box up by the top left)
- Default Profile Image
- Slider images
- Mute buttons
- Info Bubbles (for example see MixView mouseovers)
- Now Playing Images updated
- Dark Zune Theme Search Images updated
- Left Arrow image in the settings menu
As always any feature requests, comments, etc are welcome. Also didn't know if I should start this as a new thread or just add on to the old one, but I figured this would be better. If I was wrong please merge this with the other thread. Thanks.
For installation instructions, to leave feedback, report bugs, request new feature, and anything else please see this thread: Zune Software Customizer Version 3.1.0 - Dark Zune

Quick question, is this compatible with the 3.1 software? It doesn't say on the site. Just always good to check, you know?

Runt, this hack was just released yesterday as per the links, so I can assume it's not 2.5, though it's possible it could only work with 3.0. In theory, anything on 3.0 should work with 3.1, but there's no harm in asking.
Well again Charge, it's always good to check.

Sorry, yes this is the newest version that is compatible with the newest software. I adopted the Zune numbering convention so the first two #'s will correspond with the Zune Software version. I'll make that more clear in my post.
ericute I responded on my site, but here is my response in case you didn't see it:
You must not be using the correct link. Please use the link in the post, ie http://www.mjefferson.net/uploads/20...customizer.exe
To verify you’ve downloaded the right exe, after clicking next once on the installer you should see version notes and it should have 3.1.0 at the top. If you see that you have the right installer and it does work for the newest version of the software. Please follow the installation instructions if you are having difficulties.

I can verify that the link for 3.1.0 does in fact say 2.5 on the very first window, but if you click next it will say 3.1.0 under release notes like sable said above.
Awesome app sable, I love it. All the little new additions are cool. Can't wait for your next update.

lol I had gotten so used to just clicking through that that I didn't even notice that on the first screen. I'll fix that on the next build.

Is this the custom background hack thing, or is this something different?

Different. Here's cliffnotes from the original release although that was some time ago so new things have been added.
* Custom Color Settings
o Set a wide number of colors right inside your Zune Software
o Most colors will update right then and there, some might require a restart though.
* Custom Themes
o Set a theme right inside your Zune Software
o See note on colors refreshing.
* Column Chooser and Reorder Columns added to Playlists and Podcasts Panel
* Set Image as Background Context Menu in Pictures Panel
o Simply right click a image and set it as your background. If you like the way it looks just hit ok, otherwise cancel out.
* Background Browser
o Now you can browse for a picture using a standard windows dialog
o Added Checks to ZuneBoards Custom Background hack to make sure the file exists, etc.
o Also you can enter in urls for internet images

Are you on Vista? If so, as the instructions say, you will need to run it as the administrator.
If you are already doing that, please delete the ZSCinstall.log file in your Zune directory and rerun the installation. Then paste the contents of the newly created ZSCinstall.log in this thread or email/ pm me it.
Timtacious is that what the actual path you put looks like? If so that definitely isn't correct. It should default to C:\Program Files\Zune

@sableholic: Nah, I just typed it in w/o looking
It says "C:\Program Files\Zune already exists. Would you like to install to that folder anyway? I said yes
Could you show me an image of what it looks like? Is it under Settings-->Display?
I hate asking noobish questions as staff, but hacks are not my area of expertise

 It works now, thank you. I have no idea what was going wrong before. At first I wasn't running as admin, but I tried that once and it still didn't work

I hope it works
I had applied a custom background when I had 2.0 and it carried over with subsequent updates to 2.5, 3.0 and 3.1, although in 3.1 I no longer had the option of changing it in the display menu. When I opened up the display menu "zero" was checked but my custom background image remained so I left it. But out of curiosity one day I decided to pick a different background and go back to zero but the real zero background showed up so I've been screwed ever since.
Well, my d/l just finished so here goes nothing.....
It works as advertised, thanks for sharing this with us!

Unfortunately a lot of the custom font colors are broken. And the song hover is one of the broken ones. You're stuck with it until sable puts out a fix. And according to his first post it could be a while.
Are you familiar with reshacker at all?
