I have a bizarre question on this topic, IF the zune's XNA 3.0 does permit RTC polling, why would anyone port a zune compliant xna title who's sole function is to tell the time... in other words, if its possible, why not make a whole studio of neat functions via XNA, such as: calendar, contact informations, clock, schedules (with possible music playback triggering. for alarm type feature).. and so on, all on one XNA app, after all.. MS should really be the ones to put the clock in the zune's display, not programmers and DIY handy men... but if someone were to make it via XNA, they really should add more than just a clock.

What a crazy thread, anyways... The zune has a functioning clock inside. All they need to do is display it, which, despite popular opinion, does not take up all kinds of resources. It wouldn't take any unless you really want to be nitpicky.
It's unknown why Microsoft hasn't slapped it on yet. All I know is that we'll will be able to make an XNA Clock application so when I'm in some awkward situation where I don't have access to the current time, I can just turn on my Zune real fast to find out.

To better explain the '3 day, 3 play' rule, think of the situation as follows: While the song is on your Zune without you connecting to your computer, you are allowed to play the song 3 times only. However if you have yet to play the song, but you connect your Zune to your computer, it's possible that the Zune software (the previous version because they've eliminated the 3 day part of the rule) keeps a log of when you originally received a song, much like the same way it keeps a dated track of when a picture is sent to you and places that picture in a folder with the corresponding date as the folder name when you copy the picture to your harddrive through the Zsoftware. To put it simply, the 3 play part of the rule was kept in check by the Zunes (showing that they have no internal uninterruptable power source), the 3 day part of the rule was kept in check by the computer and Zune software.

Nice, a clock, but it's not in the menu
also it is off. anyone know how to set it? I think it is within munu code, but not sure which part. someone who knows, can you post directions. The more specific, the better

My friend showed the clock to me yesterday or day before, kind of weird to have it in games...
Would it make more sense if the submenu was called "apps" or something instead of games?

The Zune absolutely has the capacity to run a clock (yes even version 1 thank you). This is a computer (more or less), and has a processor that runs instructions. I know someone had suggested a "counting program" to keep track of the seconds until screen saver etc. but there has to be time keeping involved even if it's just one second is = one clock cycle (like a for, next... or do... loop). I personally don't care. I love the zune, and if you don't have a watch you probably have a cell and between the two you have the time!

I mean why would everyone want an iPod? They are inferior and like belly buttons - everyone has them... LOL
