I just got it so the background is a reference to a file, so we can have the background be located OUTSIDE the program. That means we have one applicator that points to a file outside, and you can change that file to change your background!

So put that in the install directory of your Zune Program and eexecute it, hit start. Now take an image (any image) and save it as Custom.jpg in C:\ It can be a non jpg file, but still call it custom.jpg. Now go to your software settings, in display is your selection for background, pick the option called "custom." The picture located at c:\custom.jpg will be your background image. Want a new background? No repatching is neccesary, simply rename c:\custom.jpg as c:\old background.jpg or and put the new background image as c:\custom.jpg and start the software up again! No need to go fumbling and adding more and more backgrounds!


edit: OK, so I'm having some problems. Lacrosse_man tested it for me and told me it wasn't working. It woiuld display the first bg, which it does when it errors out.

Basically what i did was open styles.uix in zuneshellresources.dll and go down to

and added in (c:\custom.jpg, the \ disappears...)

it works for mine...

I was going to add in multiple versions to allow multiple cusotm bgs

But I got to go to bed, so you guys test this out and tell me if it works

If I get some good reports I'll make this public tomorrow, since we have to regain some dignity.
