Default Multi Extention Support Beta 2

In case you don't know, a hack is out that will let you play more filetypes through the zune software. It's two registry files in a zip.

What's going to be in the new version:
*.swa compatibility
improved *.dvr-ms compatibility
Registry files combined into one.
Zipped and non-zipped versions availible.

(yes, the original was a beta)

You are right that it was technically in BETA, but that was mostly since it was really tested yet.

You are also right that it can be combined into one reg file, which I had sitting on my computer for a while but forgot to upload. I have since uploaded it now that you reminded me.

I don't know what the problem was with the .dvr-ms support, but I guess it is beneficial if you can improve it some...

I have also never heard of a .swa file, so I don't know how useful it would be to most people.

swas are just apple's mp3s. You could rename it and change the extension, but for software developers and modders, that would cause problems. With earlier versions of WMP, a box would pop up saying that the extension was wrong, but now it blocks the extension. (I am responsible for that myself because I had to open my big mouth and call microsoft.)

as for the dvr-ms, I added a registry entry to tell the program it's like another extension. I forget which.

Oh, in that case .swa should be pretty easy to add.

Like a file other than .dvr-ms? Does it decrease conversion time or something?

I haven't tested it yet. Can't find a dvr-ms file to convert.

And right now I'm focusing more on the firmware downgrader.

Default does it work with 2.0 upgrades?

Hello,

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this question, but does this work post-firmware upgrade as well? I mean, does it work with the newest version of the Zune app (2.0)?

Thanks,
Bob

It does not work with the new software.

It works with the new firmware as well as it works with an iPhone.

Sorry if this is an exceedingly stupid question but, if it doesn't work with the new software, then how do the various extensions get converted for play on the hardware, and how does synching work if the app doesn't support the extra extensions?

Thanks,
Bob

Get a video converter. My personal favorite is Cucusoft Zune Converter Suite. It isnt free, but is when you look in the right places.

Is getting a software converter the only way to get multiple extensions to work? If it is, I must say that I miss the old software a little bit. The new is great with podcast support and all...but what about all my "other" kinds of media? Anyways, if someone comes out with a new hack to see .avi files and such, it will be totally awesome.

Reason: I'm not fooling with outdated software. Eventually, I will get around to uploading what I did do.
