Default Converters, Formats, Info., Apps., Etc.

This thread will contain everything and everything important regarding videos, their conversion, the formats, etc.

I will keep it updated with things I feel need to be added, but feel free to let me know of anything you think should be added.

Converters
AVS 4.7 is the best converter I've ever used, and that's saying a lot. It can convert basically any (video)filetype to almost any other filetype.

AVS 5.1

Winavi can convert from the basic filetypes, avi, mpeg, wmv, to either one of those. It doesn't however, convert mp4's.

RIVA FLV Encoder v2.0

This software is freeware (really) and will convert FLV straight to WMV. Furthermore, it will not require any additional conversion before working on the Zune device either! :winkle:

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Don't forget to change the "output" extension (usually .FLV) to .WMV before encoding!

I followed the tutorial (contains screenshots) linked below with the following changes...

http://www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/t259578.html

* Changed the output file extension to .WMV
* Changed the framerate to 24
* Changed the bitrate to 128
* Changed the sampling rate to 44100
* Changed the Channels to Stereo

(Only the first change is probably required to make things work)

Hope it helps! :winkle:

The Zune device also supports Windows Media Video (WMV) Simple Profile, Windows Media 7 and 8, and PhotoStory files. For these video types, the maximum video bit rate is 736 Kbps with a maximum overall bit rate of 800 Kbps when audio is included.
