Default What are you using to convert your videos to .WMV

Im currently using the AVS Video Converter 4 to convert my videos

http://rapidshare.com/files/4340779/..._NEW_.zip.html

For all you guys using the program, what is the best setting of the .wmv format so that it is the best possible quality when displayed on your zune. I ask this because I have transferred some videos which are really good quality but when I transfer them to my zune it becomes all pixilated.

Even if your using a different conversion softwear please share all you thoughts and comments

Thanks

Replay Converter v2.20

http://applian.com/replay-converter/demo.php

A really nice program that can convert "all the popular video and audio formats." It even converts videos ripped off of YouTube in .flv format. Real nice program, but it's only shareware...

what *exact* format should i convert videos to so that I can avoid converting them again in the zune software before syncing to my zune device?

like.. i know it should be wmv, but wmv8 or wmv9? what bitrate? ...what audio codec? i want the maximum quality for my zune, but no extra conversion step before syncing..

thanks

I'm not sure, but I think they're automatically re-converted by the software.

Ya, what I meant was that it's irrelevant what format they're in or codec used. They will be re-converted. This is what I've heard so far at least.

But, doesnt it stand to reason that if you have the vids in the exact format needed, they wont be re-converted?

Wait a second. I'm pretty sure those sealab vids you (putis616) posted didnt need to be re-converted!

Maybe it's some setting i'm looking over in the zune software... hm

Ya, if the sealab vids didn't need converting the problem is on your end. All the videos I've uploaded, except the first few Simpsons bundles are .wmv, the same codecs, same process, same everything.

EVERYTHING that I have uploaded has had to be converted. All of which are in WMV. Even the Sealab that I tried had to be converted. It can take quite a while too. :-(

I've had a couple short clips and things in .wmv that haven't needed to be Re-Converted. But I'm yet to put a full Movie or Recorded TV show onto the Zune because of the time it takes to Convert, Convert then Re-Convert... Just another thing that makes me re-consider owning a Zune.

The sealab that I did have only took a few seconds to reconvert. But I have a full length move (1:18:34) and that takes like 45 min or so

You can try to convert them while you are sleeping.

BTW, It seems like the codec and everything has to be PERFECT in order for it to be 'syncable.'

I do, But then in the morning I still have to put them on the Zune. Then wait for the Zune software to convert it.. If this keeps up I'm just going to get my money back.

I prefer my Zune videos with the WMV 9 codec @ 768kbps and audio stereo 128kbps WMA @ 44100 sampling rate.

Make sure you calculate the output resolution carefully, as I have not found any software that actually preserves the aspect ratio, even when there is an option to preserve the aspect ratio!
