This pop singer from Barbados is trying to spread the word out there that it is important to see about trying to donate some bone marrow. The subject of leukemia hit close to Rhianna's heart when she talked to a random New York City mother of 2 and is now trying to promote more people to donating bone marrow to help this woman who has about 5 weeks to find a mathcing donor so she can get the marrow transplant as well as many others in need of a transplant. Rhianna even did a free concert for the DKMS-a large bone marrow donor center- Linked Against Leukemia gala last May.

Im no pop fan, nor do I even know who that is, but thats alright though. I like that, give back mentality she has. If she is a star then giving back is a great way to share her success.
Now if more big wig stars would get off their rockers and do more good for their fellow humans, then this nice surprise would be a regular occurance making the star status seem a little easier to swallow.

^I think that there are many other famous people besides Rihanna that are helping common people, they just don't take a seriously active stand like she did.
You know just giving to charities of their choice.
Especially with money that they won somewhere else.

That's a pretty noble thing to do. And MadameMasenko is right. A lot of stars believe the same thing, but aren't as serious.

Excatly! lost of People that are made of money do try to Help out.

so.... did she donate marrow herself too? :confused: Or is she just promoting awareness? (I didn't see it but I'm also super tired) don't get me wrong that's great and all, but if a celeb is going to put their name out there for a cause I'd expect them to take part in it as well. That being said, I'm scared to death of needles and just don't think I have it in myself to donate blood/marrow/anything that requires a needle going into my body. I truly do hope the mother finds a matching donor.
