Best way to convert widescreen Videos

What is the best way to convert widescreen movies and still get a decent picture quality ??

I used WinAVI converter to convert American Pie 5 (the new one that just came out on DVD) @ .wmv, 700 Kbps and 320X240. The movie was in widescreen and WinAVI kept the video widescreen and still was able to sync to the zune without a second comversion. However the video looked like crap it was all pixelated. So i tried AVS Converter and when i converted @ the same setting the movie got streched out to full screen and no longer wide screen.

any comments on this issue are welcome

TMPG or ImToo converters are the best for converting

Use AVS and just calculate the aspect ratio yourself. Use Gspot to get the exact aspect ratio. Then do 320 divided by aspect ratio = Y

eg:

320/1.81=176

so your aspect ratio would be 320x176. i've done it dozens of times.
