Default Question about Torrents

I am pretty new to this game, and I was just wondering how safe these torrents are. I downloaded some from Podtropolis.

Also, is the quality pretty good on these torrents? Sorry if I appear ignorant (I pretty much am on this subject).

Heh, no problem, everyone starts somewhere. Torrents are pretty safe, as far as legality goes. Quality, speed of download, and everything like that depends on the files and/or uploader. If you stick to torrents with a lot of seeders, they'll usually be good. Make sure to also read comments when they're available, I've read comments before, that this doesn't work, or there's a password on it, and it saved me lots of valuable downloading time.

Also, use torrent-finder.com, it searches all major torrent sites for you, and lets you choose from them all.

Sorry, I have another question. You mentioned to stick to torrents with a lot of seeders. I am trying to download 3 movies at once. The first movie I am downloading says 10(14) seed. The second one says 1(1) seed, and the 3rd one says 0(0) seed.

My question is, once I finish downloading the first one, will the other ones speed up? Or, will the seeds stay the same? And what the heck are seeds?

The 1st one is downloading fairly quickly, the second EXTREMELY slow, the 3rd on not downloading at all. Should I basically just cancel the d-load on those 2? Thanks!

Ya, once the first one finishes, the other should speed up. Seeders are people who have fully downloaded the file, and have been or are uploading it. It makes the download go faster. You don't have to cancel those 2, but you should pause them, so that the 1st one finishes faster.

Once I get these videos downloaded and converted, I will try to upload them to filefront.

I am trying to get Spaceballs, Officespace, and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas right now.

Did you just download the TORRENT file?

If so, you need a program that downloads from that file. I use Azureus and I think its great. I don't really know how it is compared to other torrent programs because its the only one I've used.

When you do this, tell me what it says.

Heh, ya, I overlooked the fact that the 'file' in question might just be the torrent.

Then all you gotta do is drag the file you just downloaded into the upper portion of azureus and a window should pop up showing you the files you are about to download. Then simply press ok and wait for it to finish downloading.

Ok, I just purchased the AVS video converter. Is there an appreciable difference in quality between .mp4 and .wmv format?

If there is, I am patient and would prefer to convert to the higher quality. Any feedback would be nice.

I just spent an hour converting Spaceballs from .avi format to .mp4, now the zune marketplace is converting it again! I am just going to stick with .wmv for movies from now on. >

Ya, wmv is perfectly fine, if anything, you can just use the highest wmv setting.

I'm having trouble with (mu)torrent(mu is the symbol that looks like a 'u', in case you didn't know) . I'm downloading Monty Python and the Holy Grail from BitTorrent, and it seems to be moving extremely slow. What is normal downloading speed for a file of it's size(444mb)? I've been downloading it for a while, and it's only downloaded 3%.
