A lot of people ask how you create a bordered sig the easiest on Photoshop. So I thought I would create a tutorial for the people who don't know.
1. Create your Canvas (450x150 is a good size)
2. Duplicate the Background layer (Right Click the Layer, Duplicate Layer) Then hide the original layer (Click the Eye)
3. Click Ctrl + Alt + C to change the canvas size. Add 50 pixels to the height and 50 pixels to the width. You should now be left with a hatched area around your canvas.
4. On the new layer Right click and click Blending Options. Then go down to stroke. Change the Options to:
Size - 2
Color - Black
4a. You can add a Outer Glow or Shadow or anything else you desire in this dialog box also.
You now have a canvas that is bordered.
If you want to add an image follow these extra steps
1. Open up a new image and size it to about the size you want to be in the canvas. Make sure when you are scaling the image you hold down the shift button so proportions are constrained. (stretching etc....)
2. Select the bordered canvas, and use the Wand tool. Then select the the edge around the canvas.
3. Click back onto the other layer and click the Delete button. This will delete everything outside of the bordered frame, leaving the picture on top the exact size.
3. If you want it to over hang, when you select the outer canvas space, just delete the bits you need to get rid of using the Eraser Tool.
You have now covered the basics and can start learning how to create your own style of sigs. Enjoy!
