Because the alarm will most likely run all night, it is suggested to plug your Zune into a power source.
Best audio solution is to use the headphones port to plug into some speakers.
Zune Dock Instructions (MUST READ):
Plug your zune into your dock.
Start playing some music... (if you want it louder, turn your volume all the way up)
While the zune is playing music in the dock... start the Zune Alarm application.
The application should load with your music playing. Then stop the music by selecting the option "Stop Music".
Then set the alarm or countdown timer. what ever you want to do with the application.
*NOTE: If the music doesn't play through your dock, you can always use the headphones port as your output source.
*Special Thanks - Rockman87 for the Zune Dock Instructions!

This looks great. I'm glad someone who can actually program decided to make an alarm clock.
lol
GOD! This is amazing! How long have you been working on this?
and BTW: Sorry for 'Stealing your thunder' I was just fed up with waiting. =D
The only thing I can think of that you don't have is custom backgrounds. Now THAT would be cool. You can find the code in Zune Clock 1.5.
Not sure on the number of hours, but I started it last Wednesday. I had to figure out how to interface with ZBlade and Zune storage and what not, so a bit of time went into that as well as learning the general XNA 3.0 stuff. I work full time as a developer, so I've had to work around that.
You were fine putting it out there. I had a workable copy the day that ZAC was released, but I wanted to get a few more of the features in it first before I released it.
So are both of the Z.A.Cs going to be updated and improved or just the one?
btw, thank-you both for such a nice app =]
This app is completely different from ZAC and SleepTimer. I could very easily add in a countdown alarm. I'll put it on the list of ideas for next release.
Thank-you for such a fast and informative reply, I forgot to give you some +rep for your nice work here.
Eagerly waiting for some more add-ons to it.
If we were able to go into our photo section and use one of those as the background that would be pretty amazing and different from the others, just a suggestion =]

I like the idea and will test it out. I know a couple of other app have it. The main thing that i have to make sure it can do is save the image info as text to the harddrive and then reload it when it starts back up again. If it can, I see no reason why I wouldn't be able to add it in.

it can, as with one of the clocks in this forum has the code to allow the user to set a different time-zone to the one in the hardware-clock and allow it to save it to the app so the user doesnt need to change it again on another start-up =]
--- here the link to the clock which can save user adjusted time =]
The blacked out songs are DRM ones that Zune Blade blocks by default. This is to my knowledge because application can't access them. Song playlists are on the list of what I would like to add, it might require a Zune Blade mod to make it work though.
I haven't had any problems with song artists duplicates. Try downloading a fresh copy of Zune Blade and running it on your Zune, the song feature is in it by default. If it shows up there it is either a Zune Blade problem or a music format problem.
Request:
It would be awesome if you added a sleep timer in the app also. Make it so you can set the alarm and set how long you want your music to play before you go to bed. Then you can listen to XX minutes of music when you go to sleep and wake up to the alarm in the morning.
