Default Do you play any musical instruments?

I am teaching myself piano and guitar currently, but I'm still a rookie.
Any musicians out there?

I play guitar (bass, acoustic, classical), flute, piccolo, some piano, learning trumpet, and after I learn trumpet I'm going to learn clarinet. Flute was the only instrument that was taught to me. Everything else I learned myself

I play guitar, and I'm pretty good with it. I have a acoustic, Les Paul electric, and a classical guitar. Currently studying classical and a little jazz.

That's impressive. About how long have you been playing each instrument?

Awesome. I have a black Ibanez acoustic guitar and the amp it came with (Ibanez aca15 acoustic amplifier) and no pedals. Man, I still need to think of a name for my guitar. Do you name your guitars or am I just a weirdo?

Just keep working on it! Do you figure out music you want to learn by ear, use tabs, or read sheet music?

So are you self-taught or did you take lessons?

Lessons at first, took a break, and now I'm taking lessons for classical guitar and jazz theory. I tried looking up music theory on the internet, and after a bit of the easy stuff, they almost always lost me. All of a sudden it talked about A-add9

I mostly watch youtube lessons, but I can read tabs. I learned "when the saints come marching in" just messing around on the guitar and it sounds pretty cool to me (I only play it on one string though and it's ridiculously simple). I have a guitar lesson DVD I bought recently but haven't had time to watch yet and I'm planning on checking it out tommorow. Hopefully that'll be helpful.

I might take lessons, but for now I'm just going to learn the basics. I know some simple songs and riffs and I know some chords too, still working on that.

Well, for basics, this website is great. Just don't use tabs too much if you want to really become a musician. If you just want to play guitar and don't really care about music theory, then I guess it's fine.

Right now I use tabs mostly, but I know what you mean about not using them, plus, a lot of the time they are wrong in one way or another. I still need to learn all the chords and everything before I can really go anywhere. Right now I can play a few riffs and what not from a few songs, but nothing complete.

Yeah, don't rely on them too much, altough they are nice if you want to quickly play a song. My music theory is pretty bad too. I can do basic barre chords but if someone asked me what a Bsus/C was I'd be like .

Try to learn a full song, they're some pretty easy ones out there. What type of music do you play?
