How large is your music collection? - Page 3

I don't have much music. (Must go on a music searching marathon!) I have maybe 2-4 gigs of music (about 558 songs). Not much, but it all Rap and hip-hop but I should try some new stuff (techno, rock- always wanted to listen to that- and some more stuff) Any good genres?

My Zune doesn't have many songs, but my computer does. Just most of the songs on my computer aren't on the Zune for some reason....

I had a hard drive crash recently and the data recovery program renamed every file to "filxxxxx.mp3" or "filxxxxx.wma" it took me a while but I used the godfather to rename the files by their metadata. however I have noticed a significant decrease in total number of files. after doing some searching, aparently some of the files were "merged" into a single file (how about an 800meg mp3 at 128 bit!!! and there were many of them, that was just the largest. who knows how many songs I lost, but my library went from 180gigs to 67gigs. and 18,000 songs to 11,000 songs. I am now back up to 13,727 songs and 1089 hours of music (according to WMP11) thats over 45 days of continuous no repeat music. (thanks to my wife buying 2 or 3 new CDs every week or 2)

(FYI) I used to run a "DJ at your place" DJ service and had all the CDs ripped to my PC to make it easier. I just setup play lists based on the type of mood/theme/age group/party type that I was going to be at, and went and just hit play all-random in whatever playlist was appropriate for the location. great way to make money. I'd make anywhere from $200 to $3000 a day. had to stop when I got married. cause I used to travel to where-ever someone wanted me (I drove 7 hours for one job, paid me $1500 a day for 6 hours a day for 4 days of me sitting in front of my PC reading a book while the playlists played itself out. Most places supplied the sound system too, otherwise I'd rent one form nearby where I was going, and add it to the customers costs. I miss those days.

I have around 50,000 songs at around 356 gigs. This represents my CD collection - I haven't gotten around to the task of converting my lp collection yet... I must say, though, that as a music purist it's a bit odd to speak of music in terms of bytes. I'm into britpop & indie. I have 57 G worth of songs every song is 128kb, that's right at 12,230 songs. ANd yes every song is tagged and in folder strucutre of genre/artist/album/disc and they all have album art as well, that took me the longest to do.

Mine come like that, but when I download an album I download EVERYTHING by the artist, all at once so I get everything with the album art and such

I had to switch computers, and I have 8 dvd dual layer disks completely full of compressed rar's, though all of the music is 320 lossless.

I forget exact gig size, I only know whats on each one and how many I have.

awhile back I downloaded alot and by alot I mean alot of music "legally-ish" but long story short i backed it all up to dvds and i have like over 100 or so 4.7 gig dvds filled with music! and i can basically find most of the stuff people look for online through search engines and blogs.
