I tend to gather around people with similar sensibilities as myself, so most of the music I like, my friends like. But most people I know aren't into the music I am. And I'm really okay with that.

I'm a damned indie kid.
Vampire Weekend, Gogol Bordello, Oh No! Oh My!, The Robot Ate Me, Emarosa, Dance Gavin Dance, the list goes on, and on, and on.

I was also way into the local scene for a while, until I sort of latched onto Every Avenue and Heirs.

but now Every Avenue has gone to shiv and Heirs broke up, so I'll be searching out the locals again.

I love Forever In A Day, too. Also a local band here in Westland, MI.

Well I don't know. I listen to anything that sounds good. I usually go to the music underground to find it.

Nine Blacks Alps comes to mind as my favorite obscure band.

I tend to listen to not popular but not unknown bands.
The most unknown band I know(IN THE US) is from the UK (Stratovarius)
They sound IDENTICAL to Dragonforce except a better singer and less guitar but killer keyboard. Other bands that I know any not many other people know in my area are :
Orgy
Dream Theater
Dangerous Toys
And Billy Talent(even though they are popular in Canada and I think some parts of Europe)

But thats off the top of my head..I know more.

I like metal and if I didn't I would be screwed lol. We have a 120gig external HD at work and 80% of it is filled up with my friend (The Managers) heavy metal cds. He owns like 700 cds and he ripped every single one of those within a week and a half of getting the HD.

If Japanese music counts, then I am a fan of music not many people listen to. I rarely listen to English songs nowadays lol

I listen to as much music as I can, I choose my music by what I think sounds good... and sometimes it includes the variest artists / groups from OCRemix, or the Faint... good stuff, but anyway... anything from alternative rock to techno to trance, ambient, to GOA / PSY, and so on... I just listen and enjoy, even death metal and classical..
