As much as I'm annoyed by Twilight (yes I did read the books), I have to say this isn't a terrible soundtrack. Death Cab, Sea Wolf (who I just listened to and really like), Ok Go, and Grizzle Bear are all artists I like. I might have to listen to this.

I just listen to it all the way through. I don't really see anything special about it. The only song I would listen to again is Death Cab For Cutie's 'Meet Me On The Equinox, Which I've had since the single was released. They are intentionally going for a Gritty Indy feel with this album, Which I do expect to go well with the movie.

But what I really like about the Twilight soundtrack is how much of a contrast there is between songs. Only 3 or 4 of the songs were Made or Mixed for the movie, with the rest being songs that have been around a while. And something special happens when you can find an already great song and inject it into a scene where it just clicks and flows. The use of Full Moon at the beginning of Twilight comes to mind. Even Super Massive Black Hole worked well during the baseball scene... When the music is made with specific scenes in mind - its just not the same. Which is the case with the New Moon soundtrack (IMO).

I'm glad someone finally commented on this. I love the new soundtrack, I hope I'll love the new movie (a little disappointed with the first). I especially agree with yensed about songs that are already out there that just seem to fit within a scene of a movie. Not to get off topic but Where The Wild Things Are uses The Arcade Fire's "Wake Up" (which has been out since 2004 - album Funeral) and in my opinion it seems like the two were made for eachother, 5 years apart.

New Moon was my favorite book of the series and listening to the soundtrack reminds me of certain parts I forgot.

----And Bon Iver and St. Vincent!!!! THANK YOU JESUS.
