Default "Must see movies of 2008"

I saw this whilst searching for good movies online.
55 Must See Movies of 2008 | /Film
I would quote it in here but it is too long to look Nice.

This is a list of movies that some people brought together their opinions on and came up with 10% of the total movies released in 2008 and made a list of 55 you should see.

I don't personally agree with some of these movies, such as the first one, Cloverfield, is IMO a horrible movie, a great Premise. Godzilla meets Blair Witch.
But the handhelp camera in Newyork while running and turning every which direction gave me a headache.
But back to the point some of these movies are really quite good, 21 for example was a movie that I liked a lot.

Please remember that when reading this it was written in October of 2007.

And also tell me what you think of their list.

Not a great list, mostly just included popular/hype movies. Except not really... because then Tropic Thunder & Burn After Reading wasn't included, and a bunch of random films that nobody has ever heard of because they're not due for release until 2009 are included.

I liked Cloverfield, but I didn't think it was a "Must See", although by that list's standards, it stands as one of my favorite films up there. Other things that should not have made the list include:

10,000 BC (One of the most critically panned films of the year)
Jumper
The Happening (Definitely not, as the list claims, his best script since The 6th Sense)
The Love Guru

Most of the other films on the list are also kind of middling on mediocrity. Granted, 2008 wasn't that great of a year for movies. But films that deserved to be on there, in my opinion, are films such as Taxi to the Darkside, 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, and even Kung Fu Panda was better than a lot of the films on this list.

It was not my list and as I had said I do not agree with some of the movies up there, and you are correct they are hyped movies, but A list is a list, No?
and I could find a million and a half lists on movies of 2008 but I just posted the first one I came across.
But you're right, some of those movies Sucked hardcore. 10,000 B.C was not as good as I had hoped it would be, and I didn't like jumper at all.
And I had High Hopes for The Happening, because of Mark Wahlberg. but that dissapointed me.
But nonetheless some were good and some were bad.

Yeah, I know it wasn't your list. I just thought it wasn't a great one in general.

It wasn't really a list for me. And it's weird, because it's not even a list for the casual movie goer because some of these movies are extremely indie, while others are extremely big-budget hollywood.

Yeah it said that in the explanation above the actual list it ranges from Big-Budget hollywood to Lower-Budget Indie. and more of the indie movies I think are better than the Hollywood ones are.

Cloverfield in theaters was good. On DVD would have been terrible.

I've only seen 3 out of the 5 you posted, but I would agree.

very true. The difference was crazy. Unless you have a killer home setup with a 50+inch plasma and surround sound, you're gonna miss out.

That list is weak, they pretty much just took every new movie and put it on a list. Some of those movies were terrible (be kind rewind, i love jack black, but it was pretty weak).

yeah I don't know about that list. I really liked Sex Drive, it was like Forgetting Sarah Marshall but the naughtier version. I think I laughed at that movie more than any others, but I also have a skewed since of humor
