A simple Physics equation

OK well here is the basic equation and facts. btw it's a story prob.

There is a man who's in a canoe. He has a bottle setting on the front of the boat. He is going against the current. When he comes upon a bridge, he slows down. While passing under it the bottle falls into the river. The man continues to just keep going. After 30 minutes he realizes that the bottle is missing so he turns around and goes downstream towards it. When he finally catches up with the bottle, he grabs it. The bottle is 1 mile from the where it fell off of the bridge. Here is the question. What is the exact velocity of the water? (Hint:Using English system will be easiest.) Have fun with it.

When you finally get the ans PM me with it. I'll post if u got it write on here.

It took me about 5 hours to solve it. Have fun with this conundrum.

Sorry, but you can't solve this. You need to know air resistance, weight of the bottle, it's surface area...

While it is true that such things would effect the real answer, this is not a real world thing, it is a physics problem. You could also argue that the river would be going at a different speed as the river got wider and thinner and that the botle could have gotten caught. Things like this, you use cerebus paribus really, just assume it doesn't matter and things act ideal.

And truly, a more precise answer wouldn't be tht much more precise considering

How the hell are we supposed to figure this out? There is no initial velocity given or anything... Is there acceleration??

it gives you distance and time. Find velocity. (Although you may have to transform some of the distances and the time

)

Assume that something in the river flows at the speed of the river plus the speed gained from any internal propellents.

At least, that is how I did it.
