Cool Help Wanted...

Hey there,

I'm asking for community help here. As the only active writer for ZuneBoards, I'm given the task of scouring the internet for any news worthy of posting up to the community. I've employed several useful ways of doing this, but I can only do so much, and I have only one set of eyes. There's where you come in.

News/Info Help Please
I'm looking for anyone who would be willing to help. Either by becoming a zB writer, or by simply tipping me of any news you find. This may, in the future, become a Jr. Staff/Jr. Writer position and would help your visibility to the community.

Do You Have What It Takes?
If you are interested in becoming a zB writer, you would need a relatively good command of the english language, since you would be writing for a highly visible website visited by thousands of readers daily. I would give you some tips on what tools are out there to help you gather Zune/Microsoft information.

Everyone Else
You don't need to have a title or be very great at writing - you just need to be willing to help any way you can. If you
1. - Have direct information/tips about Zune, Microsoft, or retail information OR
2. - Are willing to help scour the internet for news worthy information that would benefit our community....
then this is for you.

Any tips, news, help, info, IDEAS you can contribute would be great. Like I said, I can only do so much and I think more eyes out there would be best in help build this growing community.

So What Do I Do?
Send me a PM, or post here any interest you have. You will be contacted shortly.

Thanks for your continued support of ZuneBoards and I look forward to working with all who can help.

I've been thinking about asking this the past few weeks, I've noticed that some of the other sites are getting information faster than we are, there are a few sites that I check regularly and I would be willing to help. Actually, I would love to help.

Hey ACE. I just wanted to say that you can take any news from my blog at any time from http://www.freewebs.com/zune-vs-ipod/blog.htm
... As long as I get accredited somewhere in there as you have in the past. One of these days I'd like sort of a partnership between my site and Zuneboards, or maybe to be an affiliate like dragod.net. Just a thought. Any chances of any of this happening?

Ace maybe shouldn't just do news stories all the time. Many zune websites regurgitate the same stuff. You should go for a more unique angle. Hack, how-to, customization, etc. stories would bring hits to the site and separate zuneboards from the ever growing zune community pack. You draw people to site with that type of story, not links to zune-related stories. I'm all for those stories coming off the bench for a supporting role but I wouldn't put them in the starting lineup. When you guys came out with the guest-hack, the "unique" story, I'm pretty sure ZB had a very successful month traffic and member wise. The story with a link to a tech blog? Not so much. Sorry Ace, I know you're working hard but ZB should go in different direction.

Excellent point, thedemographic. Harvey from Zunerama does exactly that, and has received a lot of recognition.

In 2008, zB will try to build more content in "editorials" and non-news related stuff.

Just trying to help and grow ZB. Maybe you should think about reviewing zune products.Ask board members about their purchases and thoughts about headphones, speakers, etc. if no cash is around.

I like this idea. You should make a compilation of the good things that the community has said about the Zune and make a story of it. Just take random quotes from users and let the outside world know what Zune owners actually say about the Zune. Thinking as an outsider, if I saw this forum as one where everybody owned a Zune and found a story with quotes from many, I'd be attracted to it. Just a thought. I didn't word that very well, but maybe you get what I mean.

But I'm not talking about zune testimonials (that's already a board) I'm talking about Zune accessories I.E cases, speakers, headphones etc.

I have to agree with thedemographic and cookingdoggy. There seems to be a void in actual user testimonials, product reviews, etc that don't border on outright stupidity. Most simultaneously bash the product and their composition skills. I sometimes openly weep at the state of our education system...

Anyway, I too would like to see more personal stories about the product, accessories and the actual usage of both, whether it be a review or a personal experience. In other words, welcome the social.

For example, I had a young lady send me a song while sitting in a Panera Bread via the Zune. This started a pleasant conversation not only about the product, but about sharing, social networking, etc. She had never heard of half the artists in my collection and vice versa. Even though she was likely 40+ years my junior, we found a common bond: The Zune and the music. It was two hours that crossed generational, musical and social boundaries.

I'd like to see more 'stories' in that light on here, not just a news board.

Ace, anyway I can help in that regard... just let me know.
