Dane Cook, funny and a good actor. Worst film with him was Good Luck Chuck...man that was horrible.
I like the Burger King skit. "Where do I go?" "Where do you go? You follow the one road you're on to me!"

He stole the Monopoly bit from Christian Finnegan, too. Dane Cook and Carlos Mencia should tour together.

daang guys, thats rough. . mayeb he did steal it, but then again, how many comedians accidentally overlap each other? anyhow, just thought it'd be nice to give him the benefit of the doubt.

anyhow, DANE COOK IS FREAKIN AMAZING. he gets a little dirty sometimes and i have to turn it off but overall he's rockin

Okay, and every song you hear has chords and lyrics and ideas already done. Every movie is not a new idea but remakes of old ones. You're saying he steals...what form of entertainment isn't?
They get inspired somewhere don't they?
Plus, he is a riot to see and delivers very well. Its funny.
Everyone is a critic.

So if I made and released a movie about a shark that was terrorizing the beaches of, oh, I don't know, a fictional place called Amity Island, and in said movie the police chief hired a shark hunter and a marine biologist to dispatch said shark, would you call it a creative overlap, or would I have just ripped off "Jaws?"

No one is arguing about that. This is a Dane Cook thread so people are posting funny Dane Cook bits. Why are bringing us down?
Of course there are other funny people. So go make a thread for them.

It's funny you mention George Lopez. Did you know that George Lopez choked out Carlos Mencia at the Laugh Factory one night in Los Angeles? He did it because Mencia stole Lopez's material. 13 minutes worth in a 1 hour special, to be exact.

As an ameteur stand up, I'm on a mission to de-rail joke thieves.

You would have just ripped off Jaws.
That was pretty specific though. Other shark movies were made. not original ideas though.
Then it branched into anacondas, spiders, alligators, lions, dogs.
I was just saying that a person is not really original if you want to get down to it. They were inspired, they experiences a lot of the same things as everyone else, yadda yadda.
You just laid out the plot of Jaws. Okay, I know what you are saying, I get it and agree.
It does not mean I will stop thinking he is funny.
Besides, how many people hear something re-done and like the new version better?
Take the Amityville Horror. Original sucked, newer one was good.
Okay, back to laughing about Dane Cook jokes.
"My Brother thought he was the Burger King!"

I bet you that you're jokes are not as original as you think.
I have done comedy for the fun of it, not ever wanting to make a career of it because lets face it, thats a tough biz and my life is too good to give up to make jokes for a living.
Do you think Dimitri Martin is bad because he is kind of like Mitch Hedberg in delivery style?
back to the topic of Dane Cook.
"no no it's okay. I empty the blood out of my head once a week."

Ugh.

Bullet point 1) If my jokes aren't original, it's news to me. It's not a matter of originality. It's a matter of VERBATIM. Dane Cook does his Monopoly bit, and it's almost word for word the same as Christian Finnegan's. Just like Denis Leary's "Jim Fixx" bit. It would have been hilarious, had Bill Hicks not done the same bit 5 years earlier.

Bullet point 2) Delivery style isn't copywritten. If delivery style was so, then Steven Wright could have sued the pants off of Hedberg, Carr, and every other one liner out there, had Rodney Dangerfield not sued the pants off of Wright, first.

No no, you're right. Delivery is not copyrighted, but copy a style too much and you're not original and then it's monotonous.
I bet you are funny, but I bet there are a thousand like you and not as original as you think. Everything has been done before, but new experiences by new people and new ways of delivering it make it fresh.
Verbatim, yeah, no cool. but you know what? If I have not heard it before, then its new to me haha!
So Dane Cook was new and funny to me and I don't think it was that big of a deal since he was able to make a career and no one blasted him in the media to the point of ruin like you'd think people would if a copyright was infringed upon.
Can you fault me for thinking someone is funny? He has his own stuff as well, so its not like the whole night is one big carbon copy of another person.
I can see your point, I can, but get in the spirit of things or make a thread for your other funny people and laugh about their stuff.
Let us have our Dane Cook thread and quit the negative vibes, man.
back to Dane Cook jokes;
"Helllooooo, I'm a carrrrr, Oil is my blood!"

Meh. As a (wannabe) comic, I just hate to see people get comedic kudos for other peoples work (in my opinion/observation). I didn't mean to poop on anyone's parade.
