Default Cracked Zune

I had one of the first zunes and one day after having it for less then 3 months and less then 20 hrs used i unhook from charger and lcd is cracked on the inside.. ive moved on but recently i found my old zune laying in one of my junk bins.. figured id check out the hack scene.. my question is simple.. since irefuse to replace the lcd for the price of a brand new one can i hack it to work as a hard drive only for a linux system or only windows?

You can find a cheap screen on ebay or something. And I suppose you could, but I'm not sure. What firmware was on it?

na bro only for windows and on top of that u gonna have to have zmp on ur pc to use it as a hdd and the zs dose not work on linux only on windows

Sorry to dredge up a dead thread, but I thought I'd add that I believe that in a Zune (30/80 gig) is just a notebook hard drive, so if you follow existing instructions for replacing the HD, you could just take the hard drive out and use an adapter (I believe I got the notebook to desktop ide adapter from best buy, but I'm not totally sure).
