First Digital SLR

Much like asuro, I recently picked up my first digital SLR (the same Nikon D80 with 18-135 f/3.5-5.6 lens). While I'm still getting used to all the controls, I'm quite happy with the results so far. Here's a few shots I've taken here in Calgary:

(Taken at the top of the Calgary Tower)

(Devonian Gardens, Calgary)

I'm thinking of actually taking a photography course this fall -- along with planning trips to the local zoo and the Calgary Stampede. Pretty much, I want to go wherever I can with this camera, as I know that's the best way to learn.

Also created my first panorama shot (great for dual-21" LCDs):

I'm so jealous.. I want a DSLR, but they're so expensive. How much did you pay for yours? I've got a Fujifilm S700, not too bad for a point-and-shoot, but meh.

With lens, I paid around $1100 Canadian. There were cheaper models (like the D40x & D60), but I know several people with the D80 and they were pretty happy with it.

Those photos are very nice, I haven't been to Calgary though.
