Default My first Sig

Well, a while back I downloaded Gimp, fiddled around with it for a bit and then gave up. Today I was feeling strangely motivated, so I tried as best I could to create my own sig. I used some pictures I liked, messed around with transparency's, and shading and such, and here it is. Pretty basic so far, but what do you think?

I'm thinking the left corner needs something, but I haven't quite decided yet.

It's better than my first sig. I would try another font. I do like the Inner Shadow, though. Good job.

Mmm, background is just a simple "brushed metal" wallpaper that I found.

It's a good start. Instead of using opacity entirely to blend the images, try to get something that flows more, and colors that work together better. Perhaps a stronger grassy foreground and some field/sky in the background would fit much better than the metal. My opinion of course, and again nice start.

It's nice, I think the edges need some work, especially the corners, they look like they have some junk on 'em.

But good for a first one.

Thanks for the input. I'll probably try something next to replace that, the problem was I don't really understand how to blend images so well yet, so I've just been using transparency, and that metal was the only background I had at the time that worked out fine. Do you know a better way of blending I could try out?

Thanks, and I will try to fix em up for when I try another sig.

Not everything

Back on topic, everyone's first sig is basic, and will improve over time.

Um.. go blame the picture on google search. The original picture I used had the head cut off. LOL

BTW... not everything is visible or else you'd be staring at it.

My 2nd signature looks better because I put in a whooping 2 minutes on it.

It was for a graphics contest on zuneboards about dream/sleeping.

All of my artwork are in vector format thus not done in photoshop.

Ok, so I have 2 really stupid sounding questions about gimp.

1. How do I draw a straight line?
2. Is there an easy way to blend images?

Well, it depends on what type of line you want?

If you are using any of the tools that can be used for drawing (or something similar anyway like a brush, pencil, burn, eraser, etc.), then holding down shift and dragging the mouse in a line will work. All you have to do is drag in the correction direction and the correct length. The computer will keep it straight.

2. It depends on what type of blending you want to do. You can use your blending modes, brushes, erasing. There are many different ways.

Ok, thanks stkr. I ended up finding the straigt line thing online, but I'll fiddle around with blending techniques and s
