Zune software installation can't continue until you've installed one or more updates.

Error message when you try to install the Zune software: "System update required"

When i go to that link I guess I get confused because all my updates are in checked. I have XP home edition and i'm running sp3. If anyone can help thank you ahead of time.

Download the full zune package from Download details: Zune 4.2

Open it and extract it to some folder. Navigate to that folder and select startzune.exe. There are some files in another sub folder that you may need to install, I forget the name of the folder though (packages or something). Make sure all of those files are installed and you shouldn't have any issues installing the software.

What is "extract it to some folder"? You lost me there.

Found the "startzune" file, but it is still looking for some update for windows or zune?

extract to some folder means extract it to a folder you specify, there's no right or wrong place to put it. And to answer your second question, the startzune.exe file should install any updates that you need from the folder you extracted to. If it doesn't, you can always find the individual updates in the folder you extracted to.

How do you get at those individual files and how do you know which ones you need?
thanks again.

The icon created in the folder I extracted the files too reads "startzune" no .exe and I can't open it to see the other files. It only tries to open the program.

I suggest you extract it to something like "Zune Full Install" or some folder like that. startzune is a .exe, but chances are that you have known file extensions hidden. Anyway, once you extract, there should be a folder called 'packages' or some sort. Install everything in there. Also for future reference, edit your old posts with the 'edit' button. Double posting is highly discouraged and repeated offense will lead to consequences.

Default Still stuck

The advice is appreciated.
The repost can be blamed on my unfamiliarity with your site.
I still can't seperate the files, no matter what folder they are in.
No "packages", no .exe, just the single "startzune" icon.

are you sure the package downloaded properly? I can assure you that there's more than just the startzune.exe. Once you download it, you have to open that file to extract the contents to a folder of your choosing. Navigate to that folder and everything will be there.

Well,

Still having Xp issues. My question is if I upgrade to windows 7 will these problems go away? Or will I create more issues?

Thanks
