I'm running Zune software version 4.0.7. The Zune program keeps crashing with the message:
"Everything is right where you left it. Zune is recovering from an error and needs to reassemble your collection. You'll need to reconfigure your player relationship, sync groups, and podcasts subscriptions. Sorry for the inconvenience." (This process takes a few hours.)
This has happened several times since the release of the latest software version. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times to no avail.
I'm now starting to think it has something to do with a Zune library size limitation. Currently, my library takes up over 200 GBs and contains about 15,000 songs. Does anyone know if the Zune software library has a size limit, and have I reached it? Or is this just another example of this horrific software?
I have heard of there being problems with users who have large collection sizes. They typically start when your collection (of music) is larger than 50 gb. There's a very good chance that 200 gb is too large, and causes some issues. You might be interested in filing a microsoft connect bug report.
Prior to 4.0 there was a size limit...I believe it was 25,000 songs. That of course makes no sense when you also supply 120gigs of space on some of your players... anyway, it may or may not have been fixed on 4.0
However, for very large (but even less than 25k tracks) collections, your tagging becomes supercritical...and all sorts of issues have been reported (slow sync, incomplete sync...and so on.) Those issues seem to have survived into 4.0 as far as I can tell.
