Zunes: 120 (brand new) & 30 (screen broken)
Computers: Windows XP SP 3 originally had Zune 3.1 software then reverted to 2.5
Windows Vista had Zune 4.0 then reverted to 2.5
So I bought my 120 GB on Friday and tried to install it on my Vista. It said the driver was installed and required a reboot. So I would reboot. After all that, I'd plug my 120 back in and it would try to reinstall the driver, then hang. I would be put through a never-ending reboot cycle. So I uninstalled Zune 4.0, used Unzoone, and followed this guide
here. Then reinstalled Zune 4.0. Same ****. So I moved to my XP computer.
XP would have worked fine if there the firmware would have downloaded. But it didn't due to some network or firewall based problems. So to combat this, I uninstalled my virus software, turned on Windows Firewall, and still no luck. Reinstalled my virus software, ran thorough virus scans which came up with nothing.
Then it dawned on me. My 120 came with Firmware 2.5 installed. So I looked for a Zune 2.5 software download. Found it, downloaded, installed without a hitch on both computers.
Vista continued the same problems with the driver not installing at all. XP said when I tried to install the driver it did not have the following dll's: ZuneNetProxy.dll, ZuneRegUtil.dll, ZuneTcp2Udp.dll, and ZunePTDNS.dll
I then downloaded the Zune Devices Diagnostic app from Microsoft's website. I've got reports from both my computers waiting to be read by someone who understands about the registry more than I do.
I've spent three days on this. Can someone PLEASE help me?
