Default [SOLVED] Some songs play gaplessly; others don't. But they're all the EXACT same form

The vast majority of my music collection is trance mixes, ripped from gapless CD's. So although they are separated into different tracks, the CDs are gapless so it's one big seamless mix.

ALL of my CDs have been ripped with Windows Media Player, in 192kbps WMA format. Every single track. Seeing as the Zune software and the Zune itself supports gapless for WMA, I thought gapless would work at fine.

And it does... but only half the time.

The issue is quite simple: In a single album, some songs will be gapless. Between other songs, though, you will hear a split-second pause. What exactly is going on here?

It's THE SAME songs that do this, too. It blows my mind. If you listen to a lot of the albums I personally ripped and put on my zune, the first few tracks will play gaplessly. Then between track 6 and 7 there will be a gap. Same with between 7 and 8. But then after track 8, the rest of the album is gapless again. Except for the very last track.

It's just so bizarre to me! They're all ripped with the same program in the same WMA format, so howcome some of the songs play gaplessly as expected and others decide not to? I just don't get it. It does this with ALL of my CD's too. Random tracks are gapless while others aren't.

Additionally, it behaves the exact same way on both the Zune software on my computer and on my Zune hardware itself. With the exact same songs too.

If anyone can shine some light on this subject then please help, thanks.

happens all the time to me (not the same behavior on the software though, only device)

but, you have to do a firmware reset and erase all content and resync it 20% at a time or it will freeze

ive been told its a firmware/software communication bug.

idk wat to say about the software part, but this is how i fixed it on my device

Well, I just don't know what to do anymore. I've tried ripping the CDs in different programs (Zune Software as well as WMP), I've used different bitrates, I've used different CD drives for burning... it always comes out the same.

The only conclusion I can come to is that there's something wrong with the CDs themselves. As weird as that sounds, it must have to do with the way some of them were manufactured and when they are read on a computer, some of the songs aren't actually gapless.

Any additional help or insight would be appreciated.

I have the same issue I own a Zune 80gb. I noticed this happens to tracks that are longer than 6 mins or so. I'm hoping this gets addressed in the next firmware.

Wow! I never took track length into consideration. Bingo.. this just may be it. I too look forward to a future fix.

I should also add that I've done a firmware restore as well as repair by adding games...and the problem still exists. For those who don't have that issue, I wonder if they tested this on long tracks. It is annoying to hear that break while jammin to a dj mix or live show.
