Default Video Format Questions

I have a high quality video that I ripped from DVD. It is a WMV file at 720x480. Now, when I try to sync it to my Zune, it looks like it is going to work and gives a %, but then I get an error relating to format.

BUT, I thought the Zune would automatically scale down my WMV file so that it will fit. Is this not the case?

Curiously, I also converted a few YouTube videos to WMV that were already in 320x240 had to be converted again as I was syncing them to the Zune. Odd...

So when does the Zune use it's built in conversion?

Also, if a movie is in widescreen, is there no way to make it full screen? It sucks watching a movie that's like 3in x 1in.

Finally, when I have had success getting videos on the Zune, they are often pixely and grainy. Even worse, sometimes the audio/video are out of sync by a full second. That is highly annoying. I'm using Format Factory to do all my conversions, and it has a Zune preset. But what settings do yall use? I'm especially curious about FPS. The preset is 25 FPS, but I heard the Zune can do 30. And ideally, shouldnt you try to match the FPS that the video was shot in?

Thanks.

Yeah, on some converters you have the option of converting to full or widescreen, honestly in my opinion, I don't like watching videos on a 3x1in. screen.
Try Xilisoft Video Converter, its decent.
If you need 'help' finding it, pm me.

you can try finding WinAVI.. those converters are fast converting software for me.. unless you have a slow computer. you must convert it to the right format/fps/res to sync with zune. Format must be .wmv or .mp4, 320x240 resolution, and under 30 fps
