Ready to throw 80G out the window...

Well I got a new 80g zune a few months ago. The only problem I had was this.
if i have a cd that has songs featuring another artist, it will make a separate folder for each featured artist. for instance i have a compalation drum and bass cd from AK1200. every song on the album is with him and another DJ. So the zune software made 15 different albums.

This does 2 REALLY annoying things. the first thing is when you are looking through your zune if you are on artist, it will have all the folders with ak1200.

Not think about your CD collection. pretty much every CD i have has a few songs that feature different artist. so my zune makes a new folder for every artist. this is the worste with all my eminem albums. i have a LOT of undergound eminem stuff thats all featuring different artist so when you are in my zune looking under "artist" im litterally scrolling through eminem featuring ... for like 45 seconds.

the second problem with this is that you cant listen to a whole cd then. if you go to the artist and then go to the cd you want, all those songs that feature an artist are in seperate folders. theres no way to listen to a full cd without finding all the songs on the zune in the different folders.

So update 3.1 comes out and i get this great idea. im going to erase everything on the zune. so i erase everything, update to 3.1 and now NOTHING will sync.

so i download some new music and its only downloading the new stuff and about 130 artist of old stuff. So it IS syncing some old. so now when i sync it syncs any new stuff i downloaded and when it tries to sync the rest of the old stuff it says "syncing 6391 items" then when its done says "not added 6391 items" and the error is file not found.

I have tried taking off the automatic sync, doing it manually, dragging and dropping folders and files into the zune screen, hitting the little "restore deleted items" button in the settings. EVERYTHING. What am i missing? im about to throw this thing away and buy a new ipod...

about the whole differant artist/album thing, you can change the song data or merge Albums.
You can merge albums by dragging one album to another or you can right click the song/artist/album/etc and click on edit to change all the song data.

I did that. like taking the example i used, i selected all the "ak1200 featuring dj whatever1, 2, 3," ect, and dragged them all into the "ak1200" folder. Awsome i thought. that solved my problem! then when i opened the zune software up the next time, they are back out. like it keeps taking them out of one file and making tons of them. it dosnt make sence...

what you have to do is highlight all of it, right click and click edit, it will ask if you want to change it, click yes
from there just change the artist to whatever you want

Ya know i downloaded this program because someone else suggested it. as NOOBish as it sounds, i have no idea what it does... I selected all my MP3s, went to convert>tag-filename. then converted them. what does that do? from what i could see, nothing happened in the way everything works. what am i supposed to do with mp3tag?

I dont get an edit option. when you highlight and right click in the "collection" portion of the software i get:

Play
add to playlist
add to burn list
sync with zune
Rename(but you cant choose this option)
delete

When you do the same in the "device" portion of the zune software i get:

Copy to my collection
Delete from zune.

lol, now what?

Ahh good **** matt. I was highlighting the artists names to the left...

Now that we have that taken care of, I have to figure out how to get the almost 7 thousand songs from my collection onto the zune... I can't figurwe this out.

just plug in ur zune, highlight all ur music and drag it on the the little picture of the zune on the lower left hand corner and it should start syncing

When i click on the little sign it says, "ERROR. YOU'RE ****ED, JUST THROW IT OUT THE WINDOW..."

No seriously it says "Cant sync. Summary: cnat sync this item because its location has changed or is no longer accessible. in collection settings, ass the items current location to the folders zune monitors for music, or return the item to its original location. error code: c00d1193"

But i showed you screen shots of all my collection settings in the zune software pointing to I:\zune\music and then the shot of the actual windows folder that shows all the music there. it makes no sence that the zune is not seeing it.

try using this however once you do you will have to all all of your music over again
