"Duplicating" songs problem

In case this helps in any way, this all happened after the 3.0 update:

I did a post a little while back about my songs getting deleted when i try to change their names, but i just found out they weren't actually deleted, but labeled as duplicate songs and put under the same name as the complete song. To clear things up, this usually happens when i want to put an instrumental in the right place. The instrumental would be "deleted" when i try to change the name or put it under the correct artist. (All i'm really trying to do is put '(instrumental)' after the name.)

Well one day i right-clicked on a song and saw the option 'show duplicate songs', so i clicked it. Lo and behold, there's my instrumental sitting there like, "Dude, where have you been?" Now, depending on what the software feels like doing, i might be able to rename the song without any problems, but with some songs, no matter what i do, the software keeps "hiding" it and every time i try to rename it, boom, it's gone again. I turned off the automatic update of album info, and there's still no effect. Good god, i think i might get carpal tunnel from this humongous post. Anyway, if anyone has had this problem and fixed it or has any idea what might be going on, please help me out. Thanks in advance!
