Zune 3.0 software issues (driver also)

I have recently upgraded my zune software to Zune software 3.0 from 2.5. I have been spending 3 hours trying to make this work.

Steps I have taken
1. Download Zune 3.0 installer from microsoft.com
2. Installed on top of Zune 2.5
3. ran Zune software 3.0
4. Zune software 3.0 did NOT recognize my zune 30gb.
5. Reboot my computer
6. (got the driver installation sign)
7. Took 40 minutes.
8. reboot
9. Vista looked for DRIVERS AGAIN.

Please help.

I have already un-installed Zune software off my computer, re-installed zune software 3.0 ONLY and the same things happened from steps 1-4. PLEASE HELP ME. thx

I have downloaded that one. (the Zune 3.0 driver set) my zune is still running 2.5 though..

Should I download the 2.5 set?

There is another set mentioning who ever is still using 2.5.. Check please, I can't quote due to only have 3 posts while the limit for posting images or links are 5.

im having the same problem and downloaded the drivers but am very confused with the process. im not very smart when it comes to these kinds of things. if possible could i get a step by step process on what to do after you download the drivers? im on a Vista Home platinum laptop and i am running the 3.0 software and firmware.
IF YOU COULD DO THAT I WOULD WORSHIP YOU CUZ THIS HAS BEEN DRIVING ME UP THE FREAKING WALL!!!!

I want to try that one, and install the 2.5 drivers for it.

Oh.. Well, I guess I'll wait or try on another machine.

I though doubt there's a way to upgrade the firmware without the zune software.

God damn it. It's still not working. Whenever I try to update it through control panel it won't work.

And I can't install it through the .inf because of an error saying that it can't be installed with that.

please help!!!!!!!!

Umm...I'm really not sure what else to do. You could always just wipe the computer and start over, but that seems a bit extreme. Maybe some other Support Team member can happen by and we can see if they have any ideas. I'll put it in the shoutboard or something.

i once had this problem and i called M$ and i spent 2 hrs on it. they said they couldn't help me and then i called M$ windows help and they found out that windows was corrupted so i did a system reboot and everything was gone and reinstalled vista home prem. it worked afterward. i hope you don't have to go through that.

Edit I may still have the 2.5 software on my computer let me check.

Wipe your zune. Erase all info from it except for the boot loader.

I have pressed ignore and now it won't start saying that there is already another instance of zune. I uninstalled that one and tried the package from microsoft.com. I get "your system already has the latest software on it" and won't let me isntall but when I look into my program files, there is no Zune folder.

Okay, It was still in my programs and features, I took it off there, now I downloaded the 3.0 software from the site and it's at the "checking for updates" Both for the one from Microsoft.com and zune.net.

Just install the software like your supposed to and it will copy the firmware and drivers needed when you connect your zune. It's simple. But remember to FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS... that's why they are there.

Well no wonder it's not working.

You're not using an account with admin level priviledges. Also, that thing about it still being there? There's some MSI entries that need to removed. You need to use this program to uninstall.
