Small problem after system restore

Now that I've got the new software figured out, there is one question I have about something that is a minor inconvenience at worst.

I had to wipe my system and reinstall Windows from the disk. Now my Zune software is telling me that my device is linked to another computer. No big deal, I tell it to link to this one...

But!...

Now under the Device>>Music tabs in the software, it says "Music 0.00 MB, 41.47 GB free" and when scrolling over the bar, changes to "Reserved space and content from any other computers (if any): 38.35 GB

Is there any way I can convince my software that this is, in fact, the same computer I've always used (because it is!!!).

Ok, this one I know for sure. It is a pain in the ass though.

First sync all of the music (and anything else you might have) that you have on your zune to your computer.
Do a hard restart. (the back button and up on the d-pad i think)
Reinstall the firmware
Resync your media.

Is there any reason (besides the small annoyance I described in my original post) that I would NEED to do this... does it limit any features or functionality if I don't?
