Default Questions about manual sync and reverse sync

I have all my music on an external hard drive, which has recently corrupted. I've read about reverse sync, which allows me to copy music from my Zune to my computer, and manual sync, which allows me to choose what content to delete from my Zune, instead of having it automatically sync to my collection.

The last time I connected my Zune, I was still running the previous version of the software, and have yet to enable Manual Sync. Therefore, I can only assume that when I do connect my Zune, it will try to remove the files that are no longer present in my collection.

Here's my question: Since I need to connect my device to enable the "Manual Sync" option under Settings>>Device>>Sync Options do I have time enable this feature?

The option should still be availiable without the device connected. assuming you have downloaded 3.0.

I have version 3.0 running. Under Settings>>Device>>Sync Options, the only option is "Start the Zune software when I connect a device". There is a prompt at the bottom that says "Connect a Zune", leading me to believe I need to connect a device to have the option appear.

I figured it out... because I had been so reluctant to connect the device, only the software had been updated, and not the device's firmware. I am all set. Thanks!
