Incredibly discouraging "sync" problem

I got the 80 gig zune last month for my birthday, and I worked a hard 3 weeks for it!

It isn't syncing with my computer. Im not sure why. Here's the DL.
I have the zune software installed. I went to their website, zune.net/setup, signed up and installed the whole dang thing. It's up and running and Im looking at it right now, I just got done putting a few songs in my library on the software, it's perfectly funtioning.

So, I went to grab my zune and plugged it in and searched for anything that said, "load music onto zune." Something along those lines, and when I found the little gray zune button on the bottom left hand side, I went to click it, but it said, "no zune connected" when my mouse hovers over it. I clicked it and sure enough, it's not detecting my zune. But when I plug it into my USB port, there is absolutely NO message that says, "found new hardware." In fact, there isn't a message at all. It charges, but the software cant detect it.

Theres also another thing I should say, when I installed the software and first plugged it in, a message came up and told me that my zune might not work or something like that, it said there was an error and my zune might not work with my software or something.

We just reformatted our computer and it's a windows XP, and we have 6 different USB ports, all of which Ive tested and have not gotten working results.

I feel mad and upset! I feel like bursting into tears and throwing it at the wall! 250$ wasted!

Is it my computer? My brother has another one in the house, but it's his. Should I test it with his? Theres no way he'll let me download music on it though because he doesnt want to risk getting viruses.

If I called their help hotline (1-877-GET-ZUNE) would they be able to help me?

to ZB TheDarkPrint,

If you have truly reformatted then you can ignore this post but if you've just done a repair install (windows overwrite) then it might still be useful.

If all else fails you can uninstall the Zune Software (Via add/remove programs) and installSZip 2.5 which bypasses most of these issues. If you still experience issues with SZip 2.5 let us know!
