Zune Software Complete Failure
Following a severe blue screen I was forced to ‘repair’ my XP installation using the original OEM install CD from Dell, followed this up by installing SP3 and all the other windows updates to get my PC back up to date. All applications functioned normally bar my Zune Software, which was up to date attime of the crash.
I have tried everything; un-install normally, uninstall from the "Windows Install Cleanup" tool, uninstall via the "UnZoone" application all combination of these followed by re-installs (using the latest Zune software download) that resulted in me either bieng told my Zune software was up to date(!) or things seemed to work until you go to use the application and you then get a ‘send error to Microsoft’ window, followed by nothing.
I then tried re-installing from the original Zune CD and this appeared to work but then it wanted to check for updates which resulted in the same behaviour outlined above.
I’ve tried renaming the programme files that were still left there following a normal uninstall and any Zune dll’s that were still in the win/sys32 or drivers folder and registry and still nothing. I've tried the "Zune Bus Root Enumerator/Zune Installer Rollback Error Fix" re: renaming the C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\wdf01000.sys file. and still nothing.
Every other application (including wife iTunes!!) works fine following the XP repair.
FYI; I have a 30gb Zune -and am near to giving up and just doing the hack to use the the Zune as an external HDD - but that I wouldnt be able to make playlists. Please advise - many thanks.
Cheers
Cosimo
