Unhappy 80Gig Zune syncs only after software is open and then zune pluged in

My zune has worked flawlessly for 6 months. Im Using 2.5 software and firmware. Today when I pluged the zune 80 in, The software opened like usuall, as i have it set to do so, but it said to connect a zune. My zune was connected, thezune said it was connected, the software opened as if it was connected but it said a zune was not. If I open the software then plug the zune in...It will sync with no problems. I tried a soft reset....then I restarted the computer...no go.

I tried every USB port.

No change.

I uninstalled the zune device in the control panel...then re installed.

No go.

I uninstalled the zune software with the device not connected. Re installed.

same thing.

I did soft and hard resets of the zune. Reinstalling the zune software and reinstalling the firmware.

I unstalled the zune software fully also wiping out all registry entrys and all lasting files left behind by the unistraller.

No change in the problem.

I have tried the complete list of problem solving hints and tricks from Microsofts website for zune help.

No change in this new problem that wont go away.

I performed multiple system restores to as far back as 3 months with no hope.

I have read of quite a few people having this same problem. Are there no answers to this problem that can fix it?

Once again...My zune will only sync if I open the software first then plug it in.

Please help!

I'd just tough it out, if it works don't fix it.

Its not working right....not the way it has been for 6 months.

Its not working right. I never had this problem. I should be able to plug the zune in and have it detected by the software without having to open the software first.

I agree with you 100%. I have the same issue. I called Zune support and they basically told me that this is how it is supposed to work. I know, it is total BS. At this point I am just living with it. I may switch back to iPod if the Zune support does not get any better.

Yeah..this is not normal. I dont sync with any other computers or anything. If this was a normal operation, then why would the software give you an option to start the software when you plug in the zune? So you can replug the zune in after the software starts?

It was working now its not... Not normal and not right.

I think you may need to face the fact that Zune support sucks. Things that worked will suddenly stop working, as we have both experienced. Unfortunately, Zune support at this point is worthless. If you can sync, then be happy. Read through these forums and other and see how many people can't even get their device to be recognized or sync at all. Take my advice for what its worth, but I think you should just live with the problem for now. Who know? Maybe the next update will fix the problem. Wishful thinking!

Iv rewad through alot of the posts. I can see where there is alot of user error involved. I know alot of people who have zunes and have had no syncing problems. The issue seems to be in compatability to some software conflicts. I just cant find the culprit. A system restore didnt help though, so it must be something unaffected by a restore.

My Zune's done the same thing since the day (less than a month ago) I've gotten it, I've never really considered it a big deal though.
