Zune doesn't recognize device

I've had no problems with my Zune intil now. I tried to connect my device and to transfer songs from the computer, but on the zune page, the icon for the device is blank. This is the first time it's happened. I've tried all of the troubleshooting techniques but none seem to work. The computer recognizes the device, and it even shows that it's charging the battery on the device. Please help!

Try doing a reset on your zune. Back button + Up on the zune pad.
Or
Uninstall and reinstall the software.

i've tried both of those and it's still not working.
