I've been preparing for the past while to get my hands on a brand new shiny Zune 80 which I'll be getting next week, so I figured I'd whip my MP3 library into shape...
So, I've been using the Zune 2.5 software for the past while, getting used to it, it's not too bad. The only problem is the album art finder, it gets OK ones, but not high resolution ones (only around 240x240) Now, I know that the Zune 80 will display only so much album art (the screen's resolution is only like 320x240). But I'd still like high resolution ones. If I download high resolution album art for each of my albums (199 in total as of now - all organized into a clean hierarchy (e.g. /Music/C/Coldplay/Viva la Vida/01 - Life in Technicolour) and save them as folder.jpg (these images will be better quality, 500x500 - 1500x1500 depending on what's available) -- will the Zune software override what has already been selected by it's automatic album art finder? And when I sync it to my soon-to-be Zune, will it scale these images cleanly? Any suggestions? Ideas? Eh? |

240x240 is the max it can display, since it has song info in the bottom, which takes up the other 80 pixels.
Larger images will most likely only distort down into the same quality 240x240. But if you want to try, I'd just recommend googling them. The only high resolution album art sites I've come across are ones that require signing up. I haven't looked extensively though, there are probably a few free ones out there.

Ah, I guess it's hard to think about, that 240x240 is enough, when in reality it is :P
I'm used to working with files that are much larger, I mean, these are the cover arts right? But 240x240 should look nice on a Zune? Even the ones downloaded directly by looking at "Find Album Info" in the Zune 2.5 software? |

Well, I've noticed that the Zune can have issues depicting gradients, but the album art should look much better with higher-quality pictures of the album. Most of mine come from iTunes, which gives album art at a very high resolution (so if you have iTunes, it's the best way to me). But, if you don't have iTunes, you can use this site: http://www.slothradio.com/covers/. There was a site that grabbed iTunes album art for you, but Apple made sure they remedied the situation
, so the site no longer works.

Don't worry, I know how to manually add album art. I was simply wondering if it was actually worth the effort (at least for displaying on the Zune, not my OCD'ness
)Thanks for the help guys, I think that's all I need. |
