HELP! Install Zune, but it isn't here.

I was having problems with my collection, and the software was going so slow, sometimes it wouldn't load completely. Thinking it may have been from the 2.5 upgrade, I Unzoone'd and clean-installed the Zune 2.5. But the program isn't on my computer. I installed again, and it says "previous version found" or something similar. But it isn't here! Not in Program Files, no desktop shortcut, not in Add/Remove Progs. I unzooned again, reinstalled, and same thing. what gives?

Is Zune listed in Add/Remove Programs list in the control panel?

no, it's not listed in Add/Remove Progs. I used Unzoone to uninstall it. However, it was version 2.5 that I uninstalled - is Unzoone capable of uninstalling version 2.5?

I have unzooned and reinstalled this about 12 times in the last few days, and I get the same thing. Install error says there's previous version. but nothing's here. reinstall. nothing here. unzoone. install. nothing here. re-install, error says there's previous version. unzoone... install. nothing here. re-install. same error. endless loop. I am at a loss.

I'm guessing there are still v2.5 registry entries that unzoone (created for v2.3, right?) didn't take care of? Can I just search registry for zune and delete?

nevermind, after I run Unzoone, I am able to reinstall - there's just NOTHING here. This defies all llogic. I am at a loss.

I did install Zune 2.5 from MS website, and I installed another copy I got from a post on this site. Neither have worked.

Should I call Microsoft support?

So after installing, do you have any of these files or folders? (you can copy and paste them into Start>Run to find out)

c:\program files\Zune
%userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Zune
%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Zune
In %windir%\system32, ZuneIPTransport.dll, ZuneBusEnum.exe, ZuneMTPZ.dll, ZuneUSBConnect.dll, ZuneUSBTransport.dll, ZuneWLanCfgSvc.exe

You should also have Zune Bus Enumerator, Zune Network Sgharing, and Zune Wireless Configuration listed in Services in Control Panel>Administrative Tools

UnZoone does not support v2.5 yet, support is coming soon.

Okay. I found a MS article about uninstalling, which said to disable some services and do a clean startup. I tried that, and removed Zune from Add/Remove Progs (there was a very small program called Zune there, but it didn't have Zune logo - like a driver, maybe. This hasn't been here on my last several installs). I removed it and tried to install Zune, but it said there's previous version. So I unzooned and was able to reinstall. Zune isn't here, though - back to square one.

I DO have the Prog Files folder Zune, and I DO have all the .dlls and .exes in System32 folder. I DO NOT have Zune folder in AppData, and I DO NOT have any Zune tools under Admin Tools.

What's missing, and how do I get it?

Solved! I found a zunesetupx86.msi (or something similar) that was floating around on my second hard drive (duh!). I don't know how it got there - downloads are automatically copied to my desktop. But, I installed it and it works!
