Default Zune Software 2.5 refusing to install

Well I tried the update the zune software thing in my previous version, and it gave me an error. So I looked up the error on MS.com and it told me to download this big package. But when I tried that, it didn't work either. So I figured that maybe it was a problem with my previous version. So I unstalled it, then deleted the zune folder from program files, then ran CCleaner to get rid of any remaining registry keys. Still didn't work. Now I'm not only Zune software-less but I'm now Zune Game-less.

The error message I keep getting says:

I'd try redownloading the software... You might have got a corrupt file, or something.

Yea I downloaded it again and I got the same error message. I've downloaded it 3 times now from zune.net and I've downloaded the 188MB entire package from MS.com 2 times now with no luck with any of it.

Well I tried redownloading everything, and i tried uninstalling everything, and i tried unzoone, but this still is not working for me. any other ideas anyone? i really want to get to putting games on my zune and programming some of my own.

Try running CCleaner Registery Cleaner, UnZoone, then install with the full package.

ok well i didn't have to do any of that. it turns out that a regular fix that i found on zune.net was to turn on your windows firewall. since i run comodo, i had the firewall turned off and the service stopped because 2 firewalls causes problems. so i just started the firewall service, i didn't even have to enable the firewall, and the program installed fine. some idiot in the programming department made the installer spit out an error, for what ever reason only known to him, when the Windows Firewall Service is stopped. And i must say, this new version is exceptionally non-optimized. it makes my 2.8GHz P4 lag up to 100% cpu usage, my fan blow harder than a huricane, and my mouse lag worse than a dial up gamer.

Hi!
New to Zune here! I've down loaded the new Zune 2.5 software to my computer yesterday after buying the 80 gb Zune and everytime I'd start Zune it would blue screen and automatically reboot.(I have Windows XP SP2). Then I read the thread about downloading .Net 3.0 in advanced Windows Update and I did, then things began working ....the Zune program would load and I connected my 80gig Red Zune device and downloaded the 2.5 firmware and I thought all was good. NOT!!!! Now when I start the Zune program, after 5 minutes or so if my mouse and keyboard "FREEZE UP" and I have to reboot the computer. I've done this a dozen times now. I can navigate the program, marketplace is good, my album art is cool, but I was playing music from my collection tonite and it froze again!!!!!! Seems like 5 to 10 minutes is all that it takes for EVERYTHING to freeze.
So, now I read that if you had Windows firewall "OFF" that that might cause an issue. So should I uninstall the program and reinstall with Windows firewall on???? Will this maybe solve the freeze issue???? And will Unzoone uninstall the 2.5 version????? Help!

Download the update manually from the Microsoft website.

The fixes in the software make it so much easier to use. I guess less processes running on my computer. I also like the games, but I wish that Zune would allow us to create and edit playlist and content right from the zune like creative products. I want to be able to delete content right from the device if I feel like it and also organize my playlists more than just the quick list.

Can I use the "unzoone" program to remove the 2.5 software even though it says it is only good up to the 2.3 version??????

Well boys and girls
It may be GOODBYE! If I can't get help quick.
This is the most SCREWDED UP software setup up I've EVER USED!!!! MS can bite my AZZZZZZZZZ!
I have uninstalled this assinine software/program installation several times tonite and it is the stupidist crap I've ever delt with!!!!!!
After unzooning and reinstalling the SZIP 2.5 my Zune won't connect!!!! The dreaded device manager...Zune yellow explanation point! I read and tried everything, but to no avail!
And now after doing the "official" Zune removal and official Zune installation per Zune.net/setup on my computer ...after a "successful" install per the install software it wouldn't reload this piece of crap Zune software on back on my computer!!!!!! I tried several times!
So........... I re did the unzoone and didthe SZIP2.5 software and it loaded BUT I'm back to the stupid Zune yellow explanation point in device mgr and the software doesn't recognize my device again!!!!!
So unless someone here is a genuis and can help me with this crap........OFF TO APPLE I GO. I had a Ipod a couple of years ago and NEVER had these issues!!!!!!!! I was trying to be faithful to MS Windows .....but am now thinking of totally switching over to Apple.....computer and all!!!!! If MS after a couple of years CAN'T GET THIS **** STRAIGHT.........then something is seriously wrong with their company!!!! 2 years to get fixes and simple work arounds in place......and still major bugs.....come on! Apple did it!
Gee I wonder why Apple is kicking MS's butt in this arena!!!
If nobody here has a answer in the next couple of days for my fix...........bye bye to this pain in the azzzzzz! This POS is going back for a refund and the market share diminishs even more for MS!!!!!!! Is there anyone who really can help ....who really knows??????? I've done all the fixes and nothing works.I've tried to reinstall the Zune USB drivers several times after uninstalling! Nada!

When trying to repair the problem with SZIP2.5 software in repair mode I get this error message half way through the process saying "Error 1406: Could not write value installGeoId to key \software\microsoft\zune\setup verify you have sufficient access to that key! I think that is the problem but what does that mean? How do I fix this!!!!!!

Well.... heres an update. The MS help line helped me reconnect my Zune by going to catalog.update.microsoft.com and re download the Windows Media Format 11 runtime .Then I went back to device manager and updated my drivers and WAALAA......shes connected!
BUT the Zune software didn't recognize my device even tho it was connected so while in settings\ device......I did a soft reset on my Zune device and WAALAA.....it's connected!

I hope this helps some else!

BUT WAIT.....I'm now back to the "use Zune Software for 5 to 10 minutes" mode and the whole computer freezes! So I have to restart the computer to un freeze it. Is there a fix for this!!!!!!
