Update of software required?

I'm getting a new zune 4, but I have really slow internet so it will take me forever to download the zune software. So I asked one of my friends to lend me his setup disk that came with his zune 30. If I use the setup disk and install the software on my computer, will it work on a zune 4? He says that its the same software that is online, but that he updated the one on the disk. So if I get the one online it will be the same thing as the disk and I'll have to update anyway. Will I have to update it so that it will work on my zune 4?

it will.. but it will always want you to update the software.. might as well just ask your friend to download the software for you and burn it on a disc instead..

No, the old software will only work with the Zune 30. Have your friend download the software from zune.net.

can anyone give me a link to the latest version? I can't find it. If what he says is true then the one that came on his disk is exactly the same as the one online, and yo have to install that one and then update.

just go to zune.net.. and find the download the software thingy.. and its already the latest software.

but he says that thats not the updated software and that you have to download that one and then update it from your computer, and I won't be able to update because of my slow internet

just take your time, if that's not the new version.. just take some more time and let it update to the newest..
