Default Artist Change

I am being driven completely nuts by this Zune software. I have an artist and Zune marks it as 4 different artists, or variations of the same artist. I have looked in mp3tag to see what the ID3 tag is, and it lists every song as 1 artist. I have gone in the software in the album view (where this oddity is occurring) and tried to change the artist to the one correct artist, but it refuses to change. Any ideas as to how to change it and subsequently organize my music?
Thank you!!

Use a metaTagger like MP3tag or Wmp11, and try fixing the album artist on that one artist, and then re-add the files to the software and see if that fixes it
Also make sure you have the zune software not correcting media information

how do i make sure that the Zune software isn't correcting the media information? (I apologize if I sound pants-on-head retarded, but I'm a complete newbie to Zunes)

Go to "Settings", go to "Software", go to "Collection", and at the bottom where it says "Options" uncheck the box that says "automatically update album art and media information"
