Default My zune is frozen in device recovery mode, PLEASE HELP!

So, my zune is a year or two old and here's the situation.. a few days ago my zune started freezing up and being really slow.. and it's always worked just fine. it was completely frozen for a while, and then there was a message that said 3. please wait. on my zune. then i reset it and it said 1. plug zune into your PC.. so i do this, and it says 2. on your pc, open the zune software and restore the zune device firmware. So, I checked for updates and tried to update it.. turns out i have like the first version ever of zune.. so i uninstalled the old version, and reinstalled the new version off zune.net. The new version told me that I needed to update my zune, so, i've tried updating my zune about 8 gillion times and it keeps telling me error: your zune went into device recovery mode while it was trying to update. It told me to try a different USB port and i've done that, but it keeps giving me the same error. And everytime I try to update my zune, it responds, and is stuck on 3. please wait.. and then it just starts back from square one with the error.. HOW DO I FIX THIS??? please help!

try to do another hard reset.. if not.. just try calling microsoft even though warranty did expired.. they might still be able to help you...

Edit: then it might be your hard drive dying? idk at this moment..
