maybe its just more speculation but, they might put out 2.5 for the ctp and all the updates needed...and have 3.0 be for the finalized xna games workup

This will be the last response and support for your position in this thread. You should evaluate your command of the English language along with reading comprehension. If you had a clearer understanding, you would note that my posts were written in defense of your posts as I felt you were getting a little beat up based on passing info on your call to support.

As for sharing real information, I have, in the form of relaying what I discussed with tech support in mid-April.

As for calling me a liar, shame on you. As for your use of derogatory words in your message, not appropriate and provides no meaningful input for your thread. If you re-read your last post to me, you will notice you cannot even get the spelling correct.

Well as of tonight, the MS download site is back to version 2.3 in the title and text of the download page. Wonder what it will be on Tuesday!

NICE! Hopefully some of it's true. I don't really care for the Social aspect, but it's still pretty interesting. Auto-playlists!! Finally. Sadly they said nothing about video playlists (which is what I really need, or just video organization period). Either way, this looks promising. Hopefully the update will come tomorrow or something. Soon.

I guess this is the better thread for my problem.

I can't update the zune software.
The software says that it's already up to date. I'm using the version 2.3.
Reinstalling the software didn't solve the problem.
I tried to install with the installer from zune.net but it offers only 2.3, too.

Ok. I updated the software to 2.5 and it prompted me to update the device to 2.5 which I did..

First look changes.

1. Good meta data editor in the software.
2. I didn't notice any changes in the device though.
3. Still searching how to setup Gapless playback...it's not in the device, that's for sure...
4. new category in the device : Friends, but need to enable it from the software.
5. More conversion control for Music and videos in the software.
6. Autoplaylists...

still digging thru the software and device...will post more as I find more...

With good playlist support, smart lists and good meta editing , syncing with WMP11 looks like a moot point now.

I like the flow with the Zune software much more than the old style device syncing with WMP11...

but with WMP11 you can sync from almost any computer anywhere without installing zune software.

True. You can always use ZAlternator but I wonder if ZAlternator still works with 2.5 ! I know the custom background hack was gone when I upgraded to 2.5.

Gapless playback works (very well) with no settings changes. My concert CDs are now seamless.

The metadata editor is pretty nice too, especially for updating the genre of a whole album. Obviously it's not as detailed as MP3Tag, but for most people, it's going to be fine. BTW, the metadata editor is displayed when you Right-click>Edit, not Right-click>Properties (like I originally tried).

I think my "Update album info automatically" setting got turned on again with the new software update. I don't know how many songs it updated before I turned it off, but a lot of songs had to re-sync with my Zune.

Overall, a VERY good update. Patience continues to pay off with the Zune.
