They could skip 2.4 if they wanted to. I'm pretty sure they only go to decimals if the updates are just minor (ex. 2.3 to 2.4.1). If they are overhauls or introduce major features then they will usually round up to a bigger number to signify the change (2.2 to 3.0). That's my understanding of it at least.

about the software:
microsoft only goes up a version when they release a NEW product, not on a major change.
version 3.X will be created for the next version of zune
they create subversions for major changes like fixxing problems with meta data.
they went from 1.3 to 2.1 without any releases in between and then they went from 2.1.888.0 to 2.1.888.2 in one month and then right on to 2.3.1338 without any releases in between and they havent updated in months...SO I MUST BE LYING, RIGHT?

Okay, I just read this thread for the first time. I believe him. And the only reason that I believe him is because of how completely necessary this upgrade would be. As bad as the software is now, they had better be working on a MASSIVE upgrade, and it better be soon, or everyone's just going to get sick of waiting and go out and buy an iPod or something. Haha. I love my Zune, and if this talk of a significant software upgrade is true, I'll probably piss my pants with excitement. I'm going to call the number and try to confirm it in a minute.

i dont see why, even though it is a Microsoft product, that Zune would let you sync with WMP. it seems too much dysfunctional.

Well, if what you say is true then just give up trying to convince everyone and let time prove you right. Unless someone can record a call, which isn't concrete evidence either since there's no way to prove that you're really on the phone with someone, or that they even know what they're talking about.

I had the same issue... i called the support and asked them about the new software... they did not say anything about it... They said they know about this issue and working on it...

i still think its a rumor... so lets wait and see.....
