Default Any software that will automatically tag/rename song files?

I'm looking to have a program that goes through all of my songs on my HD and rename all of the tags and maybe even the file name in a standardized way. Is there such a program that exists?

Thanks,
-Chris

The easiest method (which is what i do ) is you could just use Windows medis player. Update all your music in wmp by right clicking albums and selecting update album info, select th correct criteria and update your music. Now if you check the box in the zune software setting saying "only replace missing information" about your media then your zune shouldnt change anything and the files will adopt all the meta data aquired by wmp.

I have been using MediaMonkey to do this on my machine. I'd recommend it.

I can't even imagine relying on an automated method for tagging my music. I've turned off every option in every audio program I own that will go out and find "missing tag information" online. I must have OCD when it comes to my music collection but I've worked too hard to get it in pristine condition to have some software mess with the tags I worked so hard to get just right.

With MediaMonkey, it doesn't do it automatically...you can do an autoformat for selected things if you want, but you also have the option to do things manually. Automated tagging freaks me out as well. The few times it has unintentionally happened on my computer, it's often ended up being wrong anyway (irritating as all get-out).

I'll second the MediaMonkey option - it can even embed album art into the ID3 tags.

If you use mediamonkey to auto-tag, you can get it to just update certain fields (eg track, artist, album, album art, etc.) automatically and do the rest manually; you could do it all automatically or all manually.

If you go down the paying route, I've found Fixtunes to be a pretty good solution. It automatically finds song info and then you can just double check what it's found then it'll apply it. Doesn't find 100% of songs, but it does a pretty damn good job and saves a lot of time. Same can be said for MediaMonkey.
