Zune 2.1 software will not play media

Hi all,

Can anyone help me with this issue. It began only after I used the Superior Zune Installation program. Prior to that the software worked fine in playing media files from the collection.

Since I have had this issue where it merely after you click on a song.. it shows

opening...

and then does nothing. It doesn't play the file.

I have unzooned and reinstalled after a microsoft windows update the original new 2.1 software from the zune.net website. Even after that clean install the program will not play media files from my collection.

Your advice and suggestions please.

1.Make sure u didn't move ur files
2.can u tell us what it says?does it show an error message?or does it just not play?
3.Can u sync them to ur device or are they overall unplayable?

I can sync and do everything else with the software. The software otherwise seems to work fine.

The files play fine on my device too. What happens when I click on a music file to play it on the software is that is shows as if it were going to play and the following

Opening...

The word opening then disappears and nothing happens. No sound or anything. I can click on any other music file from my collection and the same thing happens. Windows media player or Real Player will play the files without a problem. Only the Zune player seems not to work at all.

I don't know if there is a connection but prior to using the SPIZ_2 program I never had this problem before. I'm stumped...

Any other thoughts?

Well, i don't know what else u cud try
but u cud try deleting the music off the software and then readding all ur files

Your on 2.1 have you tried updating to 2.3

I checked on my software version. Actually my software is up to date 2.3. I still have the problem and welcome anyone's input on what it could be.

Check the File Types @_@

Is it set to open whatever file it is?

I selected it to play all media types. It still doesn't play. I also right clicked an MP3 outside of my collection on my desktop and pointed it to open with Zune. It opened the player and did the same thing --

Opening...

but no sound nor playback.

It is a mystery.

Downloaded and used the media reset tool.

I appreciate everyone's feedback so far but still... the problem has not gone away. The software still won't play any files.

Thanks all of you for your suggestions and trying to help.

I just unzoone and reinstalled and the playback problem persists. I will keep searching otherwise my zune works fine and I can playback media in Windows Media or another player on my computer in the meantime until I can find a solution to the mystery
