Question [SOLVED] Media Conversion

I sometimes download a video podcast that is in mp4 format. It takes forever for the Zune software to convert it. Is there a way for the Zune software to convert it before you attach your player? I like to use my Zune around the house and I don't want to have to leave it at my PC while it converts.

Any help would be appreciated.

I will try that out. It just bugs me that a simple function like that is not in the software. C'mon people.

Yeah, they are on your HD first. I don't think you can do it if you are streaming it in.

The podcasts are stored in a location specified in your software's settings

i've tried Xilisoft, Cucusoft, Windows Movie Maker, FLV to WMV, and one other i cant remember. and none of them seem to work or when they seem to, they freeze in the middle of converting. it seems like it would be my computer, but ive converted FLV videos to .mpg before without problems. tips? suggestions?

That would be your computer's slowness. Maybe FLV is a less intensive process.

To convert .flv you'll need to get winavi. Thats the only one that works for me.
