You don't have to use the Zune software to sync, you can use WMP 11, WinAmp, MediaMonkey, etc. Do a search for zAlternator and you'll see how to do it.

got zune?: You need to interrupt the zune software to be able to use zAlternator. So in essence, Nino040 would still need the software.
Does it work on another computer, if possible to try? FlyingIsFun1217 |

You're right, I just learned that last night. I wish WMP 11 have native Zune controls, it would make life so much better.

Hey Nino040, can you try something to see if the crash is happening when the software reads the content from your device, or when it is sending content to the device? The fact that the software is crashing a little while after connecting leads me to believe it may be related to one of those 2 operations.
1. Disconnect your device 2. Open explorer and browse to \documents and settings\<USER>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Zune (note these are hidden folders). If you are on Vista this file will be under \users\<USER>\appdata\local\microsoft\zune. 3. Make a copy of ZuneStore.sdf (rename to ZuneStore.sdf.backup or something) and then delete the original 4. Launch the zune software, this will rebuild your library and zunestore.sdf. all previous device settings will be lost 5. Connect your device and choose to connect as a guest. At this point the software will read the media on your device so that in can be displayed in the device view of the software. Does the software crash at this point again? If so, the problem may be related to a particular piece of media on your device that the software is having issues reading correctly. If this is your case it would be interesting to know what kind of media you have on your device (mp3's, video podcasts, etc.) You might need to perform a format of the device using the button combo on the device itself (i know it's posted on this forum somewhere but I can't remember the steps) If the software doesn't crash when reading the content from the device, it sounds like the issue may be related to the content you were trying to send to the device. What format of videos are you trying to sync? If you could play around with this a little bit and narrow down which piece is causing the crash that may help others find a solution for you. good luck. |

Can we get your computer's specs? The software sometimes stops working but not all of Windows
