Crash on Zune startup. Help please!

I'm getting the "Zune has encountered a problem and needs to close" error.

I've tried the fix suggested here: support.microsoft.com/kb/929642

Didn't work.

The software version I'm having the problem with is v.2.1.888.0

Should I just downgrade? If so, how do I downgrade the device?

try the newest sofware version 2.3 or reinstall the old 2.1

Will this issue be fixed with the next software version? Couldn't I just wait until the next update?

There's already a newer version out but it still might not work.
