Zune desktop software won't play/open files in collection

Solved all problems with loading software and Zune device working well however when I go to use the software to play music on the desktop(No Zune device connected i.e. use as media player) nothing happens it just lists the track and says opening. They play on the Zune device just fine & when I select the same track in WMP 11, no problem it opens straight away.

Anyone have same problem? Solution?

Try uninstalling with UnZoone, and reinstalling.

Yeah, use UnZoone. I had had the same exact problem for a long time. I had it before UnZoone was updated to the current software so I had to do loads of stuff, and it took around two weeks for me to fix the problem. Anyway, just go ahead and use UnZoone, install it and hit us back up here with your results.

Is the desktop a source where you get your music.

Thanks for the tips, however...

The music is in "my Music" and in Zune folder within my music.If I uninstall will it erase all my music files? As I would be a bit reluctant to do that.

Hmm, it shouldnt delete the folder, but just to be safe, you could always move the music out of the Zune folder and into just the My Music default directory.

I have unzooned and reinstalled using szip2 but no dice. It still won't play music on the software. It just says opening file as before.

No worries I will just use WMP 11 to play music on desktop. It does seem odd though? Must be a fix somewhere.

Have you tried updating your audio driver? Also, there's a newer version of the software out that SZIP doesn't update to, so you'll have to install off the Zune.net website

Installed new Zune software and checked for driver updates but no luck. But no real problem I will use WMP instead of zune software for playback on PC.

you wouldn't happen to be using vista would you?? i'm having the same problem and oddly enough if the user account control is off i can't even start the zune software. it gives me the can't connect to zune marketplace error every time.

Your problem is quite strange. Try uninstalling and then reinstalling.

Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but still not working. But as I say no problem

Yes I ran reset tool but still no audio playback. Same problem with video too.
